From October 2009 onward, all new sewage treatment system that discharge sewage to any soil or inland waters in Malaysia shall comply to the standard as tabulated below.
Standard A is applicable to discharges within catchment areas of the upstream of water supply intakes, for the purpose of human consumption including drinking water; while Standard B is applicable to any other areas than the aforementioned.
